Stephanie loves running and being outdoors with her rescue dog, Teddi. She lives with her partner, Will, in Harrisonburg, VA. Stephanie grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut. MISSION We connect, educate and inspire people to lifelong activity and wellbeing. After three years in that position, she then took a job as the Assistant Director for Facility Operations and Aquatics at the University of Michigan Department of Recreational Sports. After graduating, Stephanie took a job with Texas A&M University-Commerce Campus Recreation in Commerce, Texas as the Assistant Director for Facility Operations and Aquatics. Stephanie continued her journey in collegiate recreation at Western Illinois University where she earned her Master of Science degree in Kinesiology Concentration in Sport Management and served as a Graduate Assistant for Intramural Sports. Stephanie received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Sport and Recreation Management with a General Business minor from James Madison University. She is also Lifeguard Instructor and CPR/First Aid/AED Instructor certified. As the Assistant Director for Member Services, she oversees the Member Services student staff and the daily operations at the UREC Welcome Center /Equipment Room and at the UPARK Gatehouse. ![]() The Student Wellness program creates educational opportunities for students around the 8 dimensions on the wellness wheel - Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Environmental, Social, Financial, and Occupational.Stephanie Nielsen (she/her/hers) joined the UREC team in September of 2021 and currently serves as the Assistant Director for Member Services. The Fitness program allows students, faculty, and staff the chance to participate in group exercise classes and small group functional training classes. The Outdoor Program also manages the campus low ropes course, which helps with group team building and communication skills.Īdditionally, the Campus Recreation Department oversees aquatic facility operations at the campus outdoor pool including open swim hours, hiring of lifeguards, and facility rentals. The Outdoor Program provides students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to participate in outdoor pursuits such as surfing, camping, rock climbing, stand-up paddleboarding, and kayaking through the Outdoor Rental Center and the Bouldering Wall in the Campus Recreation Center. The Club Sports program provides students with the chance to focus on a particular sport or recreational activity, and compete against other universities. Instructions on how to sign-up for an intramural sport can be found within the Intramural Sports page. Campus Recreation is not responsible for citations issued due to lack of valid permit and cannot issue visitor parking on-site. There are no registration fees charged for participation. Morris Recreation Center Cardio and weight equipment, two-court gym, climbing wall, and racquetball courts. Intramural sports are open to all currently enrolled students as well as TAMUG faculty and staff. In addition to the Rec, Texas A&M students and faculty can also take advantage of other on-campus facilities, including the Outdoor Adventures Center as well as the university’s golf course and. The Intramural Sports program offers the campus community the opportunity to compete in a variety of Open and/or Co-Rec leagues or tournaments. The Student Recreation Center known as the Rec on campus is one of several facilities operated by the Department of Recreational Sports. The Campus Recreation Department features six programmatic areas: Intramural Sports, Club Sports, Outdoor Program, Aquatics, Fitness, and Wellness. The Campus Recreation Department commits to Aggies learning for a lifetime by providing safe and inclusive programs promoting wellness of mind, body, and spirit while developing marketable skills which enrich the education of our students and the campus community. ![]()
